Meet Yasmine, Hairdressing Graduate

Been thinking about a career in hairdressing? We chatted to our recent graduate, Yasmine, about her experience studying hairdressing at Servilles Academy. From the key skills she learnt, to what she loves most about working in the industry now - read on to learn more about her career journey and what it’s like working as a hairdresser!


What were you doing before you started studying at Servilles Academy?

“I was at high school! But I left in year 12 to follow my dreams and become a hairdresser!”


What inspired you to become a hairdresser and what made you choose Servilles Academy? 

“The endless opportunities hairdressing offers - the fashion and interactive side of the industry was a big one. I also loved the idea of having a job I could travel with and do anywhere! I had heard amazing things about Servilles Academy so knew I wanted to go there.”


What course did you study at Servilles Academy and how did you find your studying experience?

“I completed both Salon Support Level 3 and Emerging Stylist Level 4. The courses were a lot of fun! I met some amazing people there, and the tutors were amazing.”


How did studying at Servilles set you up for your first job in the industry?

“Aside from the technical skills, it taught me how to speak to clients and how to interact with them which is really valuable.”

 

Why would you recommend Servilles Academy to others?

“Because everyone I know that has been there has succeeded in the hairdressing industry!”


Since graduating, you’re now working at Kingsley Elizabeth Hair (owned by one of our past graduates!) How did you find this job and how are you finding it so far? 

“I found my forever job at Kingsley Elizabeth Hair through Kelly, one of my tutors at the academy. (PS: We love helping students find work after graduation!”) I absolutely love it! Kingsley, my boss, is amazing - I learn new skills everyday and I’m growing so much as a hairdresser. I adore all my beautiful clients too and my confidence is growing everyday!”


What is your hair speciality?

“Blonde colours!”


What is your favourite thing about being a hairdresser? 

“The smiles on my beautiful clients faces! It’s the best part of the job.”


Any advice to anyone thinking about studying hairdressing or any Servilles students?

“Take it all in and work hard! Make the most of it by giving everything a go and learn as much as you can. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help!.”
