The man himself, Michael Ashton who is responsible for Adele’s signature look, the cat eye, one of his many note worthy achievements, graduated here from Servilles Academy in 1999 and has since gone on to excel in the Hair and Beauty industry.
Hamilton born Ashton, has worked as Adele’s personal Hair and Makeup Artist for the past 10 years now and is responsible for many of her outstanding beauty moments that have all been well acclaimed.
After training at Servilles Academy in Auckland, Ashton returned to Tauranga to work in a salon there. His hairdressing training gave him the understanding of the industry he needed to go on and self teach makeup, becoming the talent he is today. There is no deny he has immense amounts of natural talent and a complete knack for the industry.
Once mastering both Hair and Makeup, Michael’s career accelerated, working on every top publication, photo shoot and event he could here in New Zealand. Michael wanted to keep growing, keep learning and keep being challenged by his industry, so he made the decision to move to London.
Michael’s career with Adele started suddenly one day when they were both starting out in London and he went over to give her a quick fringe trim and ended up doing a touch of eyeliner on her too. This marked the start of their career together and since Michael has toured with her.
With the rise of Adele, there was the rise of Michael Ashton, he’s now worked on Vogue, Marie Claire, Vanity fair and with a large array of A listers including, Amber Heard, Bianca Jagger, Daisy Lowe, Elle McPherson, Hilary Swank, Milla Jovovich, Neve Campbell, Chris Pratt, Garrett Hedlund, Jamie Dornan, Joaquin Phoenix and Zac Efron among others.
Another exciting opportunity to come to Servilles Graduate Michael is his latest title, Global Artistry Ambassdor for Marc Jacobs Beauty. Michael only recently accepted this position, and will begin to represent their eye makeup ranges this year.
