Too's Journey: From Servilles Academy to a Fulfilling Career

At Servilles Academy, we had the honor of having a chat with Too. He shared his incredible journey, from starting out as a greenhorn at Servilles Academy to building a successful career in one of our salons.

Too kicked off his adventure in the world of hairdressing at Servilles Academy, and he started from scratch. He was eager to learn and was like a sponge soaking up the wisdom that our comprehensive curriculum and specialized training had to offer. Our academy's stellar reputation, not just in New Zealand but across the Tasman Sea in Australia, opened up a world of career opportunities for him. It was the starting point of his dreams coming to life.

But the real magic happened when Too dove into the world of actual clients during his days at Servilles Academy. The hands-on training and exposure to the industry were priceless. He had the chance to work on all sorts of hair and engage closely with clients and our experienced mentors. It wasn't just about learning techniques; these experiences were instrumental in building Too's self-confidence and competence as a professional. It's what molded him into the confident and skillful hair stylist he is today.

Too also discovered a network of support among his fellow students. While the age gap was noticeable, these connections became the cornerstone of his journey. However, the turning point came when Paul Servilles himself extended an apprenticeship opportunity at Servilles Newmarket salon. This was the launchpad into the professional world that ignited a new sense of focus in Too. Although he didn't engage with fellow students as much, he built lasting bonds with a select group of tutors and found camaraderie among his colleagues.

Mentorship and guidance were pivotal in Too's development. The exceptional instructors at Servilles Academy played a critical role in his growth. Many of these educators brought techniques and wisdom from the United Kingdom, broadening Too's horizons. Our academy often hosted talks by industry pros who generously shared their paths to success. These mentors and instructors were his unwavering support system, without whom he wouldn't have reached his current pinnacle of skills and excellence in client relations.

The atmosphere at Servilles Academy, both at our Queen Street location and later at the new facility, was instrumental in Too's development. It encouraged him to explore different classes, not only to improve his technical skills but also to fine-tune his social skills. The transition to a new facility brought about a change, but Too welcomed the spacious and well-equipped environment that provided fertile ground for his growth.

Servilles Academy's strong industry connections and unwavering commitment to continuous education were essential in keeping Too at the forefront of the industry. Hairdressing isn't just about technique; it's also about personality and staying updated with the latest styling trends. Peering into the future, Too envisions a life where he works only two days a week, enabling him to explore the world while retaining his coveted AirNZ Gold status. His employer, Olivia, supports this vision, and Too's commitment to continuing his journey with Servilles shines brightly.

Too had some simple and valuable advice for current and future students at Servilles Academy: Study diligently and intelligently, prioritize grooming, seize the training opportunities, and maintain an unwavering hunger for learning.
