Hello, my name is Joshua Sisifa and I study Barbering Level Three at Servilles Academy.

What do you enjoy most about barbering?

What I enjoy most about barbering is just the atmosphere around, just different people, meeting new people. Seeing clients happy, leaving the place with a nice fresh haircut, it really makes me happy too.

What’s your favourite thing about the academy?

What I like most about Servilles Academy are the tutors and just the people that are my fellow colleagues. It’s like a big family here at Servilles you know, and they really just take away that whole gruesome routine and swap it out for more of an array of a nice fun time with friends. I really feel like everyone here’s been really helpful. They keep me dedicated and motivated for this course.

How do you think you’ve developed since studying here?

I didn’t really know much about barbering before coming in, but now I’ve been here, there’s been so much that I’ve learnt. The tutors have been very helpful, they’ve really pushed me and shown me things that I’ve never known before. Yeah it’s very exciting, I can’t wait to learn more.

Where do you see yourself after graduation?

Something I learnt at Servilles is that every country, every region each has their own styles – or their own different techniques, and it would be really nice to go see what Brazil offers, what China offers,  you know, what Europe can do. Servilles has really taught me that the world of hairdressing is more than just what meets the eye. Everyone has their own style and technique. It’s an art form, and I want to learn that art form and hope to expand my knowledge on it.

What’s your advice for anyone interested in becoming a barber?

My advice for anyone interested in becoming a barber, I’d say come to Servilles Academy. This is the place to be, we offer a range of different techniques. The people here are amazing, the tutors, they’re the best. It’s a family and if you’re looking to further your skills in hairdressing or barbering or whatever you need to do – Servilles is the place to be.
